Detailed Report of Incident |
| Number 8 played well all day. This game was the final and all play was stepped up. Getting close to the end of the match, down by a 2 tries seemed to let the intensity of the game take over and the #8 gave a tackle which was dangerous in nature. While the offensive #14 was moving forward closing in on her try zone, the UMASS #8 ended up performing a "pile drive" tackle on the #14, lifting her off the ground completely, leaving her defenseless. Lucky as the #14 was an experienced player she knew how to take the tackle and fall correctly. I issued a yellow card to #8, however with less than 2 minutes left, I instructed her to leave the pitch. After the game, #8 asked me why the yellow card was issues, as she explained she had watched many World Cup games and witnessed tackles like such on a professional manor. I explained the issue about leaving the player defenseless and the chances of injury. She seemed to appreciate the explanation and thanked me. She also did apologize the the #14 from Bryant |
