Weather and Field Conditions
Turf field with the usual complex array of lines for multiple sports. Weather was rainy, sunny, cloudy, cold, and warm, with a brief period of light hail.

General Pattern of Play
A few more breakdown errors (hands in ruck, leaving feet at ruck) than I would have expected from these two teams. Both sides endeavored to play passing, running rugby but Aspetuck had an edge in terms of skill and athleticism.

Detailed Report of Incident
Mr. Robb had come in as a replacement #8 with a heavily strapped knee. I surmised that this was his first match experience after an injury-recovery period and he was obviously energized to return to play. In midfield, Mr. Robb tackled a Simsbury player but stayed on his feet. He released the tackled player and then went for the ball. The Simsbury player, isolated from support, did not immediately release, place, or pass the ball; rather, he clearly prevented Mr. Robb from exercising his rights. In his frustration at this situation, Mr. Robb took the law into his own hands and, instead of letting me award his side the inevitable penalty, he punched the Simsbury player in the back. I immediately blew a long whistle, stopped the clock, ordered both sides to move about 10 meters towards their respective goal lines, and summoned Mr. Robb and his captain to me. I told them I saw a punch and showed Mr. Robb a yellow card.
