Detailed Report of Incident
Red Card. Rainy, cold, sloppy day. the incident occurred as the ball came out loose from a ruck. a player from BC High dove for the ball and when the ball was between the hands and face of the player just off the ground, the St John's player in question made contact with the ball with his foot, narrowly missing the hands, body and face of the BC High player. I do not believe that there was any intent to make contact with the BC High player, and no contact was made. The play seemed reckless and unnecessarily dangerous despite the luck of the play not resulting in contact between the St. John's player's foot and the BC High player. The St. John's player discussed/inquired about this call after the match with me, acknowledging the event. The proximity of the ball to the BC High player's head drove me to pull the red card rather than the yellow.
