Detailed Report of Incident
The visitors were pressing the home team with a series of mauls nearing the home team line. The defending home team were off their feet resulting in a penalty. I gave a team warning if they caused another penalty to slow the attacking team and stop them scoring, I would issue a yellow. The reason for the team warning is that they home team have a habit of these infringements when they are under pressure. Jeff Merritt was caught at the bottom of rock, did not roll away and kept the ball between his legs - basically foiling the attacking team. I did consider a penalty try but the attacking team were not in control enough to say a try was denied.
