General Pattern of Play
Evenly contested. Both sides were making an effort to play 15-man rugby on a narrow pitch. Several penalties in the first half to both sides for offside and high tackling. Attempted to manage this through preventive refereeing, individual admonishments, and half-time warnings to both captains.

Detailed Report of Incident
Ten minutes into the second half, Southern's outside center attempted an open-field tackle at midfield that started around the ball carrier's neck. There was no malicious intent, but this was the third or fourth penalty against this individual, evidence of generally undisciplined play. The player and captain accepted the binning without dispute. The player played a penalty-free remainder of the game.
