General Pattern of Play
Evenly contested. Both sides were making an effort to play 15-man rugby on a narrow pitch. Several penalties in the first half to both sides for offside and high tackling. Attempted to manage this through preventive refereeing, individual admonishments, and half-time warnings to both captains.

Detailed Report of Incident
With eight minutes remaining in the game, Southern's flyhalf attempted an open-field tackle just outside Southern's 22 that started around the ball carrier's neck. It was an ineffective attempt that earlier in the game would have only drawn a full penalty. However, both sides had been cautioned at half time and Southern had drawn a yellow card 22 minutes earlier for a similar offense, so a yellow card was warranted. The player and captain accepted the binning without dispute.
