Amoskeag: 15    Portland: 17

Amoskeag v Portland was a Div 2 Club Men's League match. It was a very tight match with both teams playing a physical game, having chances to score, trading scores, and being stopped by the opposing defense.

In the first half, both teams had opportunities to score and were denied my strong opposition defense. Incursions into the 22 were rare. Portland opened the scoring with a converted try at the 24th minute. The try came from a rare open field break starting within Portland's own half and nice ball movement down the sideline. Very late in the half Amoskeag leveled the score with a 38th minute try. 7-7 half.

Both teams traded early PKs - Portland's at the 2nd minute follow-ed by Amoskaeg's at the 6th minute. The match was looking to end in tie when an inexperienced Amoskaeg player committed a Yellow card offence at the 74th minute within Portland's 22 after a missed Amoskaeg PK. With a player up, a good poach, and a fortunate deflection of the ball, Portland scored a converted try immediately afterward. Amoskeag scored a nice in-the-corner-try very soon afterwards. Unfortunately for them, the conversion went wide. The match ended very soon afterward. 15-17 Portland.
