Match Report for

Freedom RFC (1st) vs. Mad River/Stowe (1st)
29 October 2016

Location: Sanderson Field, North Hampton NH

Freedom RFC: 19    Mad River/Stowe: 17

Cool and rain off and on. The first 10 minutes were played mostly in Mad River's half of the field. After a prolonged halt in the 8th minute due to an injury, play resumed with a scrum that led to a try for Freedom that was converted. Freedom repeated a try 3 minutes later that was not converted, and scored a converted try in the 23d minute for a 19-0 lead at half time. The second half was much more even. Both sides had good phase play, but frequent knock ons and some indiscipline thwarted both teams until the 56th minute when Mad River slotted a penalty kick. Mad River scored a try in the 66th minute and another in the 76th minute, both converted. Although Mad River mounted a serious effort to score again, Freedom was able to hold them until the final whistle to win 10-17. This game was played with great effort from both teams until the last seconds. They both showed great sportsmanship and played very much in the spirit of the game. It was a pleasure to be part of this game.
