40 Degrees, Rain

Portland struck first 3 minutes into the game. It was answered by the visitors 5 minutes later. The sloppy field and weather conditions were a factor, but both sides handled it well. Portland used its large forward pack to punch the gain-line and had some hard running centers. Their scrum was the more powerful of the two, and provided a good platform for a couple of their tries. Mystic was more back oriented, with a shifty flyhalf and a few athletic forwards who inserted themselves between the centers. Portland scored another try before the half with a conversion, leaving the score at 12-5. Portland came out again in the 2nd half and scored within the first three minutes. Mystic answered shortly after with a try of their own. Both squads competed hard, and went back and forth, advancing with breakaway runs and capitalizing on penalties. At one point, Mystic brought the score within 6 points, but Portland put the game away with two more tries and a conversion.
