Match Report for

Bennington (1st) vs. Cape Cod (1st)
24 September 2016

Location: Beech Street, Bennington Vt

Bennington: 81    Cape Cod: 7

Today was a spectacle of the attitude rugby players here in the colonies should play with, as opposed to a demonstration of the pinnacle of rugby skill.

Cape Cod made the journey with only 9 players, Bennington themselves also short a couple of bodies. Cape Cod accepted the forefit of the league game, but the players decided to play two 30 minute halves of 10s, with the home side lending the visitors a player. The scoreline is arbitrary, as all players played with smiles, effort, and gained valuable experience with a few players putting on a rugby jersey in anger for the first time. I employed a very 'liberal' style of refereeing, with the idea of maximising running rugby, which the players seemed to appreciate. An enjoyable afternoon, with no hint of disciplinary issues.

Referee: Pete Annely
