Both teams played an entertaining hard-fought contest on a chilly, damp day. Springfield took the early lead in the 19th minute, as the Maccabi's defense finally caved after spending the majority of the match within their 22. Springfield scored again in the 26th minute thanks to a robust set of phases by their forwards. The Maccabis shored up their offensive systems and flipped the field position advantage. With five minutes left in the 1st half, the Maccabi were in scoring position, but Springfield's defense held firm. After a series of penalties, Springfield had to play a man down. With the extra man advantage, the visitors scored to cut the lead 12-5 as the half ended.

In the second half, both teams had excellent scoring opportunities, but the muddy conditions affected the ball handling of each team. In the 44th minute, Springfield was near the try line and awarded a man advantage. However, the hosts could not capitalize. With five minutes left in the match, the Maccabi penetrated deep in Springfield's territory, thanks to a brilliant counterattack. The hosts managed to force the visitors into touch for a lineout. However, the resulting territory kick hit a Springfield player on the back, which gave the Maccabi another chance. They took full advantage as their rookie lock who never played an A-side before today scored on a great crash play. The ensuing conversion was successful, which tied the match with 90 seconds left. After the full time had elapsed, the Maccabi had a penalty at midfield but lost possession while setting a ruck platform. Springfield's counterattack looked promising, but the Maccabi's backline recovered quickly enough to force the ball carrier into touch to end the contest.
