Match Report for

MIT (1st) vs. Freedom RFC (1st)
15 October 2016

Location: MIT Briggs Field

MIT: 46    Freedom RFC: 15

A beautiful fall day and a very entertaining rugby match with lots of running action, hard hitting defense, quick recycling and stretches of very good play from both sides . MIT started strong, but missed three penalty goal attempts before finally crossing for the first try after 15 minutes. The hosts dominated the opening half, and after a key injury to Freedom's #10 put 5 tries over in the first 40. The last was a real game changer - down 0-24 Freedom were awarded a penalty 5m out, and a trick pass went awry and was intercepted by MIT wing who sprinted 95m for his second of the day. Instead of 24-7 it was 29-0.

Second half Freedom came back through some close forward play and direct running and were able to cross for three unconverted tries, but MIT continued to recycle quickly, and always seemed to have the extra man out wide and just the little extra pace, crossing for three more of their own.

Final score MIT 46 (8 tries, 3 conversions) Freedom 15 (3 unconverted tries)
