The New Haven women started this match off fast by recovering their own kick-off and scoring a try with it almost immediately. Hartford fought their way back and lack of discipline at the breakdown on the side of New Haven gave them the advantage of a lot of penalties. Hartford took a penalty five meters from the New Haven try-line and scored the conversion, unlike New Haven had done, giving Hartford the lead. Three minutes later the New Haven captain was sent into the sin-bin for repeated infringements at the ruck. However, Hartford did not manage to convert this numerical advantage into any points. Indeed, a couple minutes after their captain returned, New Haven managed to score a try, taking back the lead. They scored another try right before halftime, making the score at halftime fifteen to seven for New Haven. In the second half it was the Hartford women who opened with a try, but they did not convert, making the points difference only three points. Hartford was starting to get plagued by injuries and forced substitutions, slowly losing ground. New Haven had tightened up their game and penalties were fewer and were going both ways. New Haven scored six more tries, while Hartford was unable to score any more points, making New Haven the clear winner of a match that started off very close.
