The ladies of Cheshire and Simsbury played a thrilling contest that featured plenty of scoring and drama for spectators. Simsbury dominated their 20 minutes of the competition, scoring 17 points thanks to their speedy backline. Cheshire responded in the 24th minute to make the score, 17-5. Four minutes later, Simsbury put up another (unconverted) try, which should have broken Cheshire's spirit, but they continued to fight, answered back with a converted try in the 30th minute. To make the halftime score 22-12.

The first ten minutes of the 2nd half was a tennis match between the two sides as they combined to score four tries. Two minutes into the half, Cheshire scored an unconverted try. Four minutes later, Simsbury scored a converted try. Then Cheshire responded with two converted tries in the 42nd and 45th minute to take the lead, 31-29, something that was unthinkable after the game's first 20 minutes.

The defenses managed to tighten up for the next ten minutes until Simsbury retook the lead in the 56th minute with a converted try to make the score 36-31. Simsbury extended their lead to 43-31 in the 61st minute. Cheshire kept fighting as their prop made a spectacular 40-meter run off a penalty to score near the touchline to cut the lead to 43-36 with five minutes remaining. During extra time, Cheshire had one more scoring opportunity but lost the ball in a ruck, which ended their comeback.
