Match Report for

Portland: 44    Albany Knickerbockers: 14

Portland: 7T, 3C, 1PK Albany: 2T, 2C

45 Degrees, overcast, consistent breeze cross field

Portland capitalized early, scoring a Try in the first 2 minutes of the game. They used a combination of good set piece & phase play with a quick backline that took advantage of the Turf Field conditions. Before the first half was over, Portland had scored 3 tries with one converted, had the lion share of possession, and blanked their opponents on the Scoreboard. Albany answered in the very first minute of the 2nd half, in what was probably the best string of phases played by either side all game. Play was fluid, forwards easily won each breakdown as the ball swung from side to side, and the play was capped off by a nice pop-pass from a tackled player to the Flyhalf breaking through for a try under the posts. Unfortunately, Albany wasn't able to replicate this form consistently enough for the remainder of the game and Portland punched in 4 more tries before the game was over. All in all a highly spirited match between the squads.
