Match Report for

Framingham State University Women (1st) vs. Amherst College Women (1st)
15 October 2017

Location: No location provided

Framingham State University Women: 45    Amherst College Women: 5

Amherst arrived with fourteen players, some of whom were playing their first game of rugby. The situation grew more dire in the opening minutes when Amherst opened the scoring, but lost their try scorer to a leg injury. Framingham answered back almost immediately on a long run from their fullback, who is clearly a dynamic player. There we stood for the remainder of the half, with both teams having their opportunities but failing to capitalize.

Ultimately a lack of experience and numbers doomed Amherst's efforts as Framingham pulled away. In the second half, the Framingham 15 found her stride, scoring three more times. Somewhat incredibly, the Framingham captain, also apparently scored the first try of her career. The Amherst captains showed why they had been placed in the role, both driving their team forward on attack and defending relentlessly.
