Match Report for

Harvard University (1st) vs. (1st)
28 October 2017

Location: in front of mignone past the hockey rink and harvard stadium

Harvard University: 46    : 29

Under perfect weather for rugby - 70 degrees, light breeze, perfect synthetic pitch - this was an interesting game for that level. Harvard dominated the first half: stronger set pieces (they won a very high number of line outs on opponent's throw, many scrums, many rucks and were quicker at recycling the ball), faster pace, more precise passes, led to many great tries, and it looked like Penn was in for a long afternoon. However, Harvard was warned several times for ill-discipline and began the first half with a yellow card for dangerous tackle, which triggered Penn's revolt and come-back: after only scoring 5 points in the first half, they scored 24 points. Harvard started missing tackles and lost several rucks that led to 90 meter tries. Harvard - coach included - lost a little bit of their temper but the game ended on the host's victory. Penn never gave up nor lost their focused. It was an OK game of rugby overall, in spite of the many technical errors. Not Oxford rugby yet.
