Match Report for

New London County (1st) vs. Freedom RFC (1st)
04 November 2017

Location: Clark Lane Middle School, Waterford, CT

New London County: 47    Freedom RFC: 21

Freedom traveled strong from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to take on New London County in a DIII clash on a perfect fall day. Despite evenly matched packs and a high level of physicality from both sides, New London owned the scoreboard for the first 25 minutes of play, scoring three tries through their flyhalf and outside center (two converted). Freedom finally shook off its journey to start a run of their own, scoring three converted tries in the last 15 minutes of the half to take a 21 - 19 lead into the break.

New London completely dominated the second half as Freedom seemed to lose its focus and discipline -- missed tackles, silly penalties inside their 22, and unforced errors. New London kicked three penalty goals, one to open the half and two toward the end of the game, and added three more tries (two converted) to outscore Freedom 28 - 0 in the second half. All the same, both squads fully honored the Spirit of the Game with 80 minutes of hard hitting followed up with an entertaining and enjoyable drink-up at the Hot Rod Cafe in New London. Your referee agrees the the teams' choice of the opposition's Man of the Match, New London's flyhalf, and Freedom's captain and Number 8.
