Another thriller in the NSCRO New England Maine division as the home team Mariners scored in injury time to defeat Bates 34-31.

Bates jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after three minutes with an excellent try. They followed it up with a converted try at 30 minutes to extend their lead to 12-0 before MMA got on the board wit a converted try of their own, 12-7. Bates then struck again at 39 minutes with another converted try to go into halftime leading 19-7.

MMA came out after the halftime break looking like a different team and scored another converted try to narrow Bates' lead to 19-14. Bates then struck twice, a converted try at 56 minutes and a try at 61 minutes to lead comfortably, 31-14. At this point MMA began to dominate the set scrums and played a bang-up strong game, wearing down the Bates forwards & defenders. MMA's fullback & #8 also came into prominence, the #8 with his powerful runs and the #15 with his incredibly quick feet making him hard if not impossible to tackle. MMA's #10 and captain also was moving the ball well along the backline, and the MMA pressure started to pay off. MMA scored tries, all unconverted at 62, 71, 77 minutes to narrow Bates' lead to 31-29. MMA had both the momentum & emotion going their way and they were tough to stop. They continued to drive forward and were rewarded in injury time at 82 minutes with another unconverted try to win this thriller, 34-31.

Both teams played well--tough tackling and uncompromising defense for much of the match.
