15 October 2017

Location: Kayo Field, University of New Haven

University of New Haven Women: 22    University of Vermont Women: 5

In this b-side match, split into 2 20min halves, each team continued the attacking style of their a-side counterparts. UVM moved in tight packs around the breakdown grinding out consecutive pick and go plays as a platform. UNH swung the ball wide quickly and were able to manage timely offloads during most possessions and manufactured several long runs as a result. The first half ended with UNH up 10-0, scoring 2 tries with no conversions. Coming out of the break, UNH would quickly add another try and a conversion to go up 17-0. With about 7 minutes remaining in the match UVM would put together a successful phase and put down their only try of the match, without a conversion. Later, with about a minute on the clock, UVM would put a kick directly into touch from outside their own 22. It seemed that they believed the time to have been expired, which was not yet the case. UNH took advantage of the ensuing lineout and a speedy loose forward broke through for another long try. The conversion at the expiration was not made and the final score for this match was 22-5 in favor of New Haven.
