Overcast, 50 Degrees, negligible breeze, sun came out at the end

Despite the posted score, this was a very competitive and hard fought game from the 1st minute to the 80th. Both sides really liked to get out and run and used solid packs to set a foundation for the open play. Salem struck first with a try at the 7th minute, and this seemed to awake the home team as they answered 8 minutes later with a try of their own, a penalty kick, and additional try before the end of the first half to bring the score to 13-5. This tight contest continued well into the second half. Farmington seemed to have the upper hand in the scrums while Salem seemed to do well in the Lineouts. And BOTH backlines ran very hard, and entertained the sizable crowd that came to view the action. UMF scored at the 17th minute of the 2nd half and converted, at which point Salem answered just 4 minutes later. But it appeared as though Farmington's fitness level prevailed over Salem's as they had more gas to leg out some overloads and punch through the gain-line at key moments. The Home team scored 3 more times in the remaining 19 minutes to put the game in the cupboard. Honestly, this was a very fun game to officiate with the back and forth play and open styles of the two teams. Kudos to both squads!
