34 Degrees, sunny, breezy

We have been spoiled all season with fantastic weather conditions and today felt like January. Sunny and dry conditions were trumped by the biting cold breeze whipping through the Farmington grounds. The field conditions were quite firm and early on was difficult to cut on. There was several knock-ons in the game that I think wouldn't have occurred if it were 10 degrees warmer. Regardless, the teams were keen to compete and they did all game long. On display from both squads was hard running rugby and defense. UMF had more shape and organization in their attack and overpowered their opponents in the Scrum. This setup a good platform to punch in 4 tries and 2 conversions before halftime to Endicotts 1 try and conv. The second half was a more even contest, with the Vistors winning the half with 3 tries and a conv to UMF's 2 tries. This included the showcase play of the game when the Endicott 10 kicked a lovely grubber through the UMF defense to their speedy 13 who took it the distance. Hats off to both sides for showing up and competing. The cold weather really presented a challenge (especially for me) and they all played hard.
