The teams provided spectators with a thrilling contest with plenty of exciting plays. Hartford drew first blood in the 5th minute with an unconverted try. CR responded thanks to their powerful forwards counter rucking and their speedy fullback and wing in the 14th minute where they scored a penalty try and gain a player advantage. CR took the ensuing KO and scored a converted try to take a 14-5 lead. Hartford's defense reorganized and placed constant pressure on CR's backline. When Hartford returned to full strength they immediately scored a converted try in the 25th minute. CR's forwards reasserted themselves as the hosts spent the last 10 minutes of the half in Hartford territory, however they could not produce points before the half expired.

In the 2nd half, Hartford backline took control of the game as they scored a converted try in the 50th minute to retake the lead. CR took control of the contest, but they just couldn't punch the ball into the try zone until the 73rd minute to tie the game with an unconverted try. Hartford had a couple of opportunities to win the game within the last 3 minutes, but CR locked down and preventing any points.
