All referees in the New England Rugby Referee Society are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct in relationship to their referee duties, and they are expected to live up to principles of professionalism and integrity as outlined below.

Professionalism

Indicate availability on Match Facts at least 2 weeks in advance and inform assignors directly of any changes in plans less than 1 week prior.
Post accurate scores, card information, and match reports promptly on Match Facts.
Accept assignments through Match Facts first, not through direct solicitation by clubs, teams, players, unions, or conferences.
Maintain a current knowledge of the Laws of the Game, their application, and the USA Rugby Game Management Guidelines.
Honestly evaluate their own performance and incorporate advice from others so that they may improve their skills.
Refrain from publicly criticizing in any medium (including via social networking websites) any club, team, match, other match officials, club administrator, or player.

Integrity

Place the safety and welfare of players, coaches, and spectators above all else.
Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person by equal treatment regardless of gender, age, disability, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
Be impartial, consistent, and courteous when making decisions.
Conduct themselves at all times in an ethical manner and observe the highest standards of fairness.

According to Law 6.A.4, the referee is the sole judge of fact and Law during a match. As this is an onerous and responsible position. It is vital that the referee conduct themselves beyond reproach at all times.
